Not me

Funny story (and the reason I had to start using my full name professionally--it's not just pretentiousness, I swear).
I'd been aware of my namesake for some time (after a bandmate in the 90s gave me a gag gift of one of his CDs). He's got about a 10-year headstart on me: credits with Earth, Wind & Fire, Warrant, longtime keyboardist for The Moody Blues, etc., as well as a solo career. It was all fine and dandy until the internet came along. At which point, data aggregator sites like AllMusic were assigning my early recording and writing credits (as Alan Hewitt) to him. After attempting to reconcile with the websites to no avail, I emailed his management to see if maybe there was something they could do on their end. Later that day:
[Phone rings. Unfamiliar number, but LA area code. Also, the era before spam calls to cell phones. I answer.]
Me: Hello?
Caller: Yeah. Hey! Alan Hewitt!
Me: Yeah, this is Alan Hewitt.
Caller: Yeah! This is Alan Hewitt!
Me: Um, yeah, Alan Hewitt...
Caller: Yeah, this is Alan Hewitt! You emailed...
Once we got past our little "Who's on first?" routine, we had a laugh and a brief chat. He said he'd see what they could do, but also they had nothing to do with how the aggregators got their data. He seemed like a genuinely nice guy.
